Delivering live video quality, with approximately four times more details than standard-definition (SD) images, the new system offers a digital alternative to face-to-face meetings.

Users have the flexibility to choose to connect with HD video quality through the growing number of affordable high bandwidth connections or with their older, SD legacy systems over IP and/or ISDN.

In addition to the groundbreaking HD 1080i mode, the new system also features Sony’s unique BrightFace technology that identifies the faces of meeting participants and adjusts lighting and contrast to deliver the best possible image.

The PCS-XG80 is an expansion of Sony’s current HD PCS series systems lineup, while incorporating the functions and features of the high-end model, PCS-HG90. The system also features natural and clear stereo audio with advanced echo canceller that provides superb audio quality as well as clean HD images.

Other key PCS-XG80 features include:

·         New wireless technology, RF Remote Commander Unit, which can be operated without having to be pointed directly towards the system

·         User-friendly features including “one-touch dialing” and an HDMI interface allowing a single cable connection between the codec and display

·         6-site multipoint conferencing allowing users to call up to five other remote sites to simultaneously meet

·         Multi-language support for 20 different languages

·         Share PC data in XGA resolution at 30 frames per second

·         H.239 dual stream functionality, allowing users to send two separate streams of live, HD information in parallel. Both live camera view and, for example, an animated PowerPoint, can be displayed in HD on two different screens or projectors at the remote site.
