Marantz Launches CINEMA Series 2 AV Receivers In Australia
Marantz has unveiled its new Cinema Series 2 home theatre receiver range, bringing upgraded audio processing, gaming features and installation tools to three models launching in Australia from mid-September.
The range comprises the Cinema 50 Series 2, Cinema 60 Series 2 and slimline Cinema 70s Series 2, priced at A$3,500, A$2,500 and A$1,800 respectively.
All three models feature a new 32-bit, eight-channel DAC designed to deliver simultaneous high-resolution conversion across each channel, with Marantz claiming improvements in imaging, timing and surround performance.

Dirac Live Room Correction support has also been expanded. The Cinema 60 Series 2 and Cinema 70s Series 2 are now upgradeable to Dirac Live, while the flagship Cinema 50 Series 2 continues to support Room Correction, Bass Control and Active Room Treatment.
The new receivers also target gamers, adding support for 1440p video pass-through and AMD FreeSync compatibility alongside existing HDMI 2.1 functionality.

A future firmware update will add low-latency Bluetooth LE Audio for compatible headphones and mobile devices, while the upgraded HEOS platform is designed to improve streaming responsiveness and multi-room functionality.
Marantz has also introduced Web Control 2.0, allowing users and installers to configure the receivers from a smartphone, tablet or computer without relying on TV menus.
HDMI Diagnostics 2.0 is aimed at professional installers, while Channel Level Monitoring provides real-time visibility of speaker activity.

Exclusive to the Cinema 50 Series 2 are Dolby Atmos Channel Expander and Centre Bi-Amp Mode, designed to improve immersive audio and dialogue clarity.
The Cinema 50 Series 2 offers nine channels of amplification and 11.4-channel processing, while the Cinema 70s Series 2 retains the company’s slimline form factor for smaller installations.
All three models include full-channel preamp outputs for use with external power amplifiers.
Marantz said the receivers will arrive at selected Australian retailers in mid-September.
