Subscribers can also use the app to watch movie trailers on their device, and share updates about what they’re watching with their friends on Facebook and Twitter.

Movie trailers viewed on the app will be unmetered for existing Optus mobile customers when paired with the MeTV set top box.

When connected to their home wireless network, customers can also use their compatible device as a remote control.

Frequently used controls including channel-changing, volume setting, play, pause, record and DPAD keys are available to navigate the Optus MeTV User Interface.

Optus MeTV with FetchTV, which launched in October, available to the telcos fixed and mobile customers starting at $9.95 per month, and is a rival service to Telstra T Box IPTV service.

The Optus MeTV app is compatible with the Apple iPad, iPhone (3G, 3GS or 4) or iPod touch (2nd, 3rd or 4th Generation) with iOS 4.2.

An Android version of the app is in development for launch in early 2012, according to the statement released today.
