Samsung is preparing a significant update for its Health app, introducing a suite of artificial intelligence-powered tools designed to help users better understand their wellbeing and fitness.

Rolling out from 8 June, the update aims to move beyond simply displaying health data by providing personalised recommendations based on information collected during sleep, exercise and everyday activity. Samsung says the new features are intended to make biometric insights easier to interpret and more useful in day-to-day life.

Among the additions is a new Vitals feature, which analyses overnight measurements including heart rate, heart rate variability, blood oxygen levels, breathing rate and skin temperature. By comparing this data against a user’s typical baseline, the app can identify unusual changes and alert users when extra recovery time may be beneficial or when signs of illness are detected.

Samsung is also replacing its existing Vascular Load function with a more comprehensive Heart Health Score. The feature combines heart-related data with activity levels, sleep patterns, stress indicators and body composition information to provide a broader picture of cardiovascular wellbeing, along with suggestions for improvement.

Additional tools include Daily Cardio Load, which recommends training intensity and recovery periods, and Fitness Index, which compares activity and fitness metrics against similar users to help set personalised goals.

Samsung says the new capabilities will work across Galaxy smartphones and connected devices, although they are expected to be closely integrated with the company’s next generation of Galaxy smartwatches, which are anticipated to launch later this year.
