Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus to Stick With Same Display as Last Year
Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Plus is shaping up to be a very familiar upgrade, with new reports suggesting the phone will keep almost the same screen size and panel tech as its predecessor.
According to Korean outlet The Elec, the Galaxy S26 Plus will feature a 6.66-inch OLED display, which is effectively the same size as the Galaxy S25 Plus.
The decision is reportedly tied to Samsung cancelling plans for a Galaxy S26 ‘Edge’ model, which was originally meant to replace the Plus in the 2026 lineup.
Sources claim Samsung scrapped the Edge in October after disappointing sales of the Galaxy S25 Edge, mirroring the lukewarm reception to rival slim phones like Apple’s iPhone 17 Air.
With limited time to redesign the range, Samsung opted for a safe and proven approach, reusing a display panel very similar to the one in the S25 Plus (pictured below) rather than the newer OLED developed for the cancelled Edge.

While the panel is technically new, it’s said to be almost identical to last year’s, with only minor changes to parts such as the cover window and module components.
The broader Galaxy S26 lineup is still expected to include three models: the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Plus and Galaxy S26 Ultra. The standard Galaxy S26 is tipped to get a slightly larger 6.27-inch screen, up from the S25’s 6.16 inches, while the Ultra is already in production and reportedly being prioritised due to its stronger sales.
Manufacturing of parts for the S26 Plus began last month, with full production of the phone and the rest of the S26 range, expected to ramp up this month ahead of a likely February launch.
Elsewhere, leaks suggest Samsung will focus more on performance and internal upgrades this year, including new Snapdragon and Exynos chips depending on the market, possible battery capacity increases and improved charging – at least for the Ultra model.
With rising component costs and rumours of price pressure across the industry, Samsung appears to be playing it safe in 2026, especially with the middle child of its flagship lineup.
