Samsung could finally be bringing real fast charging to its flagship phones, with the Galaxy S26 Ultra tipped to break past the 45W barrier for the first time.

According to reliable tipster @UniverseIce on X, the upcoming Ultra model is “100% confirmed” to charge faster than the 45W standard Samsung has stuck with since the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

The rumour has sparked excitement among fans who have long criticised Samsung’s slow progress on battery tech while rivals like OnePlus and Xiaomi race ahead with 65W to 120W – and even 240W – charging speeds.

While Samsung hasn’t confirmed details, a move to 65W could cut charge time on the Ultra’s 5,000mAh battery from 60 minutes to around 45 minutes.

Samsung is expected to continue using the USB PD PPS charging standard, rather than a proprietary solution.

This could offer broad compatibility, but users may still need an official Samsung charger to hit peak speeds – potentially adding extra cost.

The S26 Ultra will reportedly keep its 5,000mAh battery, but with a possible increase in energy density, allowing for a slimmer device profile.

Other upgrades are expected to include a new 200MP telephoto lens, a next-gen Snapdragon chip, and AI enhancements running on One UI 8.5.

The Galaxy S26 range is tipped to launch in Q1 2026, with the new S26 Edge likely replacing the S25+.

While not a radical overhaul, the faster charging may finally address one of Samsung’s most persistent flagship frustrations.

Whether it will be enough to compete with the likes of vivo’s X300 Ultra or the OnePlus 15 remains to be seen.
