Lenovo has teased a new Legion-branded handheld designed around cloud gaming, with the company promising a full reveal in August.

The Lenovo Legion C700 is being developed in partnership with Tencent and appears to feature integration with the Chinese technology giant’s START cloud gaming platform.

Promotional images published on Weibo show a white handheld with an asymmetrical Xbox-style control layout similar to Lenovo’s Legion Go devices.

The C700 includes offset analogue sticks, a directional pad, ABXY buttons and additional controls on the rear. Visible ventilation also appears on the back of the device.

Tencent START game tiles shown on the display suggest the handheld will primarily stream games from remote servers rather than rely on powerful local hardware.

This could allow Lenovo to produce a device that is lighter, cooler and potentially cheaper than Windows-based handheld gaming PCs such as the Legion Go and Legion Go 2.

However, Lenovo has not confirmed whether the C700 will exclusively support cloud streaming or offer any ability to run games locally.

Key details including its screen size, processor, battery capacity, refresh rate, price and wireless capabilities remain unknown.

It is also unclear whether the Legion C700 will be released outside China, where Tencent’s START platform has its strongest presence.

The project echoes Lenovo’s unreleased Legion Play handheld, an Android-based device developed with Tencent software that was reportedly abandoned before launching in 2021.

Lenovo is expected to reveal full specifications, pricing and availability for the Legion C700 in August.
