Samsung has reportedly scrapped plans for the Galaxy S26 Edge, the ultra-slim model that was expected to join next year’s flagship lineup.

Sources say the company will instead focus on its traditional trio: Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26 Ultra.

The move follows the underwhelming performance of the Galaxy S25 Edge, which sold just around 1.3 million units.

According to Korean outlet NewsPim, Samsung had already been developing the Edge variant before deciding to halt the project.

Reliable leakster @UniverseIce also confirmed the cancellation on X, citing an anonymous source.

The Galaxy S26 Edge was intended as a middle-ground between the Plus and Ultra models, but it appears the market isn’t as receptive to ultra-thin, curved phones as Samsung hoped.

Renders, like the one below, even suggested an iPhone 17 Pro-inspired design.

Samsung’s three-model strategy allows the company to streamline manufacturing, marketing and R&D.

Freed resources are likely to boost camera AI, chip performance, and One UI features across the S26 lineup.

The upcoming S26 series, expected in early 2026, will feature Samsung’s new Exynos 2600 chip in the Galaxy S26 Pro, while other models may use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 depending on region.

New M14 OLED displays are also on the cards, promising thinner bezels and higher brightness.

While the Edge brand may not be gone forever, it’s clear that Samsung’s immediate focus is on models with proven market appeal.
