Oppo Takes Aim At AirPods 4 With First Semi-In-Ear ANC Earbuds
Oppo has unveiled its Enco Air5s earbuds, taking aim at Apple’s AirPods 4 with ANC by bringing active noise cancellation to a lightweight semi-in-ear design.
The earbuds were announced alongside the Reno 16 Pro and the Oppo Bubble, a magnetic second-screen accessory for compatible Oppo phones.
The Enco Air5s are Oppo’s first semi-in-ear earbuds with active noise cancellation, a design choice that makes them lighter and more comfortable than traditional in-ear models but also harder to isolate from outside noise.
To address that, Oppo has developed real-time adaptive noise cancellation, which adjusts noise reduction based on how the earbuds are worn, the user’s ear canal shape and surrounding ambient sound.
The system operates at an 800kHz sampling rate, which Oppo says allows the earbuds to respond faster to changing noise conditions.

The earbuds also include a tailored voice-cancelling system designed to reduce nearby conversations.
Each earbud weighs 3.9 grams and uses what Oppo calls ‘excimer craftsmanship’, giving the buds a smooth, shimmering finish while keeping the build lightweight.
Audio is handled by 12mm dynamic drivers using a copper-clad aluminium wire coil, with Oppo claiming crisp highs, stronger bass and clearer vocals.
Users can adjust sound through a 10-band custom EQ in the HeyMelody app, while Adaptive Sound Enhancement compensates for sound leakage in real time.

The Enco Air5s use Bluetooth 6.0 and support dual-device connection, allowing users to switch between paired devices without manually reconnecting.
Oppo has also added AI Translate for face-to-face translation and simultaneous interpretation, alongside slide volume control, voice assistant access and Spotify shortcuts.
Battery life is rated at up to nine hours from the earbuds without ANC, dropping to 4.5 hours with ANC switched on. With the charging case, total playback rises to 48 hours without ANC or 25 hours with ANC.
The earbuds are IP55 rated for sweat and water resistance, while Oppo says the battery retains more than 80% capacity after 1,000 charge cycles.
The Enco Air5s, launching in white, black or purple, are already available in Singapore for SGD 120, roughly A$143, though Australian pricing and availability have not yet been confirmed.
