Google’s Pixel Buds Pro 2 have been given an update, it was announced at the recent Made By Google event. Among the Pixel 11 smartphone announcements, the company also revealed that its wireless earbuds will be available in a new Olive finish and have recieved a significant software refresh. 

The Pixel Buds Pro 2 were first launched in 2024 and underwent a light refresh in 2025. Now, rather than launching a new generation, Google is keeping the premium earbuds on store shelves for another year. 

The most important upgrade to the buds is Dynamic ANC (active noise cancellation), designed to compensate for subtle changes in the earbud seal while they are being worn. So, even if the fit shifts, the aim is to maintain consistent noise cancellation.

The upgrade also means users can control the Buds’ settings using voice commands, for example, asking Gemini to adjust volume or bass levels.

Google’s Pixel Buds Pro 2 now also integrate with the Pixel Watch. This means if the earbud wearer falls asleep, say, the buds and watch can work together to automatically sense this and carry out functions like pausing music, disabling touch control and silencing notifications.

Another feature,  Live Translate is being upgraded, with Google highlighting faster access and support for more than 70 languages. This showcases the Buds’ role as an AI-enabled communication device rather than simply an audio accessory.

The new Olive colour has been introduced to complement the new Pixel 11 smartphone range, while the existing Pixel Buds Pro 2 colours will also remain available.

A software update is set to launch in September, bringing these additional features to Pixel Buds Pro 2 users, both new and existing. The Olive Pixel Buds Pro 2 are available to pre-order now for RRP $379.
