Hello IoTAA: 100 Oz Outfits Join Group To Push Net Things

Some 100 Australian organisations are said to have banded together to form an industry group aimed at furthering development of the Internet of Things Down Under.

Members are said to include government agencies including the ACCC, ACMA, CSIRO, Communications and PM’s departments and NBN Co as well as Telstra, Optus and a number of IT companies including IBM, Intel, Huawei and Ericsson.

While that sounds unwieldy – with many having rather different views of IoT possibilities – a media release says 25 organisations have been named to an “executive council” for the awkwardly named Internet of Things Alliance Australia, or IoTAA.

Concept for the group is said to have originated in a think-tank organised by the Communications Alliance. It is to be managed by the Broadway campus of the University of Technology, Sydney.
