Yamaha’s Latest Speaker Is A Bluetooth-Ready Sculpture

Today Yamaha announced the ISX-B820 follow up. It inherits the same striking flower-esque form modelled by the ISX-800—a grounded base, a hoisting stem and a blossoming speaker—but benefits from the wireless freedom bluetooth connectivity offers.

Now music (or any audio for that matter) can be remotely streamed from your smartphone, tablet or computer to a speaker that is a sculpture in its own right. Downloading Yamaha’s DTA Controller app will enhance the speaker’s functionality on Apple iOS devices and, following its release in April, on Android devices too.

Beneath the designer grille beats a hearty two-way, four speaker system comprised of dual 10cm full range drivers and 3cm soft dome tweeters.

Additional connections have been placed inconspicuously—not at the back—but at the top of the speaker. Seeing as it’s only 9cm deep, the ISX-B820 can be pushed right up against the wall, or for that matter, even mounted (provided you have the optional bracket, $99). This way you can still use the MP3 compatible CD slot, the USB port, the 3.5mm Aux input, and for iPhone fans, the 30-pin dock.

Yamaha’s ISX-B820 is available now in white, magenta and emerald green for a retail price of $999.
