Sonos Rolls Out Major Update With Smarter Voice Controls And One-Touch Presets
Sonos is rolling out two major features for its new Sonos 27 operating system, introducing personalised audio presets and more advanced voice controls designed to make its wireless speakers easier to use.
The update introduces Presets, which allows users to save their preferred music, speaker configurations and volume levels across different rooms and activate them with a single command.
Users can create individual presets for different activities, such as entertaining guests, relaxing at home or starting their morning routine.
Each preset remembers which music should play, the speakers assigned to each room and the preferred volume settings, eliminating the need to configure multiple devices manually.
The Presets feature is already available in the UK, although Sonos has yet to confirm when it will reach Australian customers.
Meanwhile, the company is preparing to introduce Sonos 27voice, an upgraded voice assistant designed to understand more natural and conversational requests.
The feature will allow users to search for songs using vague descriptions rather than having to remember specific titles or artists.

Users will also be able to describe a particular mood or atmosphere and have the system generate a suitable playlist automatically.
Sonos 27voice is scheduled to launch in the US on Friday, with availability in other markets yet to be announced.
The new operating system also expands support for third-party AI assistants, including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Siri, giving users greater flexibility in how they interact with their audio systems.
Both features form part of Sonos 27, the company’s recently introduced operating system that adopts an annual naming and update cycle similar to Apple’s iOS.
Under the new approach, the next major software release will be called Sonos 28.
The changes reflect Sonos’s broader efforts to improve its software experience and respond more directly to customer feedback.
For existing Sonos owners, the updates promise simpler multi-room audio management and more intuitive voice interactions, although Australian availability remains unclear.
