Naim has expanded its premium wireless audio lineup with the introduction of the Mu-so Utopia, a high-end all-in-one music system combining 720 watts of amplification, 15 speaker drivers and Dolby Atmos support.

Following the recent launch of the Focal Mu-so Hekla, the new system brings together Naim’s amplification expertise and advanced speaker technology borrowed from Focal’s flagship Utopia loudspeaker range.
Designed to deliver room-filling sound without the need for separate speakers or amplifiers, the Mu-so Utopia packs 720 watts of combined Class D and Class A/B amplification into a single enclosure.

Its 15-driver configuration is designed to produce an immersive listening experience in spaces measuring up to 50 square metres.
Most of the drivers are powered by Class D amplification, including two 2.75cm M-shaped midrange woofers and four full-range drivers positioned along the sides and top of the unit.

High-frequency reproduction is handled by a pair of 25mm PRISM tweeters derived from Focal’s premium Scala and Diva Utopia loudspeakers. These are powered by Class A/B amplification, which Focal’s engineers say provides greater control and precision at higher frequencies.

The Mu-so Utopia also offers an extensive range of wireless streaming options, including Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect and Qobuz Connect. Apple AirPlay 2 and Google Cast are supported, alongside Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity using AAC and SBC codecs.

Users can also access music stored on their home networks through UPnP streaming, while multi-room compatibility allows the system to work alongside other supported Naim and Focal products.

For listeners with high-resolution music collections, the Mu-so Utopia supports audio files up to 32-bit/384kHz PCM and DSD128.

Dolby Atmos compatibility is another major feature, with the system offering several listening modes designed for different types of content. These include a dedicated Dolby Movie mode and Sphere Music, which uses beamforming microphone technology to create a three-dimensional listening experience.

Naim has also equipped the system with HDMI eARC connectivity, allowing it to connect directly to a compatible television for home theatre use. Other physical connections include an optical digital input, an RCA output for an external subwoofer and an Ethernet port for wired networking.

In terms of design, the Mu-so Utopia follows the styling of previous models such as the Mu-so 2 and Mu-so Hekla. It features a premium anodised aluminium chassis with a distinctive red accent running along the body.

The system measures approximately 40cm in length and weighs around 14kg, making it a substantial piece of equipment despite its all-in-one design.

Controls are handled through a large illuminated dial positioned on top of the enclosure. The dial can be rotated to adjust volume and incorporates a touchscreen interface for changing inputs and switching the system on or off.

The Naim Mu-so Utopia launches with a price of £4,499 in the UK and US$5,500 in the United States, placing it firmly in the luxury wireless audio category.

Australian pricing and availability have not yet been announced.

With its combination of powerful amplification, Focal-derived speaker technology and extensive streaming capabilities, the Mu-so Utopia is designed for listeners seeking high-end sound performance without the complexity of a traditional multi-component hi-fi system.
