Evidence Mounts For 4K HDR Apple TV

More information about an unreleased Apple product has leaked from the company itself, this time about the upcoming Apple TV.

iOS developer Guilherme Rambo discovered references to both 4K and HDR in regards to an unreleased Apple TV device.

Like the iPhone leaks from last week, Apple’s firmware for the upcoming HomePod smart speaker is the source of this new information.

Multiple HDR formats will apparently be supported by the new Apple TV, including Dolby Vision, HDR10 and Hybrid Log-Gamma.

This will allow Apple’s streaming box to display HDR-supported content from Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and other sources.

The news follows the listing of movies with 4K and HDR support on the iTunes store for some users.

It’s not yet known when the fifth generation Apple TV will be released, but its announcement may coincide with the launch of the new iPhone later in the year.
