Logitech has unveiled a Developer Edition of its popular MX Master 4 wireless mouse, introducing a distinctive new design aimed at programmers and software developers without changing the hardware or functionality of the original model.

The special edition pays tribute to what Logitech describes as the developers who are shaping the digital world, with a series of programming-inspired details incorporated into the mouse’s exterior.

However, anyone expecting improved performance or additional features will be disappointed, as the Developer Edition retains the same specifications as the standard MX Master 4, which launched in September 2025.

The mouse features an 8,000 DPI sensor and Logitech’s MagSpeed electromagnetic scroll wheel, capable of scrolling through up to 1,000 lines per second.

It also retains the built-in haptic feedback system and Action Ring button, which provides quick access to shortcuts and frequently used functions.

Battery performance remains unchanged, with a 650mAh rechargeable battery delivering up to 70 days of use on a single charge. USB-C fast charging and multi-device pairing are also supported.

The biggest changes are cosmetic, with Logitech introducing a two-tone dark and light grey colour scheme complemented by bright green accents.

The exterior features laser-etched programming references, including familiar syntax symbols such as // and , circuit-inspired patterns and a message commonly associated with introductory programming exercises.

Logitech has also included several hidden references designed to appeal to developers.

These include 0xFF + 1, referencing World Programmers’ Day, 09.17 as a nod to the Linux kernel’s release date, and !04.01, which the company associates with World Backup Day.

Despite the customised appearance, Logitech has opted not to charge a premium for the Developer Edition, pricing it in line with the standard MX Master 4.

The Developer Edition MX Master 4 is priced at $199.95 and available in Australia through selected retailers.
