Huawei Suffolkates Cyber Threats With Ex-UK Govt Head Of IT Security
Suffolk comes from an extensive career in high-level security and information strategy to the role of Huawei’s Global Cyber Security Officer, previously working as an advisor to the World Bank High-Level Experts group.
The new online security head will report directly to Huawei’s CEO from October 1 as he develops the company’s cyber security assurance strategy and system across all businesses, from research and development down to marketing and sales.
Part of Suffolk’s new role will be ‘education’ of sorts as Huawei aims to improve employee awareness of cyber security as part of its new in-house strategy.
“With convergence of the ICT industry, Huawei is expanding its business beyond its traditional operator market to meet the communications need of both enterprises and consumers,” said Hauwei’s Deputy Chairman of the Board and Global Cyber Security Committee Chair, Ken Hu.
“Industry convergence will also expand the complexity of cyber security challenges, and Huawei is fully committed to addressing the emerging challenges of tomorrow together with our customers.
“Mr. Suffolk has a wealth of experience and expertise in dealing with cyber security issues with deep insights into emerging global cyber security trends. This will enhance Huawei’s capabilities in addressing security challenges, and further support our proven track record and reputation among customers in an increasingly complex environment.”
