Aussies Hanging Up On Landlines
Australians appear to be abandoning their landline phones in a major way, a new survey by online comparison service iSelect suggests.
Its survey of 1100 Australian household “decision makers” found that just 16 percent use their landlines daily, while over a third either don’t have one connected or simply never use it.
Among Australians aged over 65, 32pc still use their landlines every day – but when it comes to millennials, 52 percent say they never use their landlines.
Why is it so? Some 36 percent of respondents said cost was the most important factor – though in fact most would probably find using mobiles more expensive; while 28pc percent said reliability was most important, and 25 percent put it down to speed issues.
