ZTE Launches Android Wear Smartwatch

ZTE is set to release its first Android Wear 2.0 smartwatch.

The ZTE Quartz will offer a battery life of up to 36 hours life on its 500mAh battery according to ZTE, and is powered by a Snapdragon 2100 processor.

It also features GPS and 3G connectivity, a 400×400 1.4-inch AMOLED display, 4GB of internal storage and protection against water and dust with an IP67 certification.

Unlike luxury offerings from Tag Heuer and Montblanc, the ZTE Quartz will be among the cheapest Android Wear 2.0 smartwatches available at US$192 ($256).

Reflecting the cheaper price, ZTE did not include NFC connectivity or a heart rate sensor, which are typically found on more expensive smartwatches. The LG Watch Style, one of the first Android Wear 2.0 smartwatches released, similarly ditched connectivity options to hit its budget US$249 ($331) price point

Pricing and availability outside the US has not been announced.
