Apple Drops From 1st To 5th In Laptop Brand Survey

Apple has fallen to fifth place in Laptop Mag’s annual Best and Worst Brands rankings, after taking out the top spot for seven consecutive years.

Lenovo was ranked the best brand for 2017 by Laptop Mag, which evaluates laptops based on their review scores, design, support, innovation, value and warranty.

The Yoga Book, Yoga 910 and a range of ThinkPads “wowed” Laptop Mag, which gave the company a score of 90 out of 100. Asus came in second place with a score of 86, while Dell (83), HP (82) and Apple (78) round out the top five.

Laptop Mag’s Editor in Chief Mark Spoonauer said Apple had “disappointed creative professionals with its latest wares while also abandoning mainstream shoppers on budgets”.

“Based on the results of our survey, Apple should also look to make serious improvements to its MacBook line. This is needed not just for pros but everyday consumers who want to take full advantage of the security, ease of use and iOS synergies that macOS brings to the table,” Spoonauer said.

Apple made a rare admission to journalists last week when speaking about the Mac brand, admitting its Mac Pro desktop computers had disappointed some customers.
