Microsoft’s latest Windows 11 security update is causing major headaches for some users, with reports of devices stuck in endless reboot cycles following installation.

The update, released on April 14, has been linked to critical failures on systems running Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2.

Users report that while the update installs successfully, affected machines crash on restart, displaying distorted visuals before hitting a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) and looping back into recovery mode.

The issue appears hardware-agnostic, impacting a range of devices including HP and Dell desktops, making root cause analysis difficult. Microsoft has yet to release an emergency fix.

The company has, however, confirmed a separate issue where some systems are prompted for a BitLocker recovery key after reboot. This primarily affects devices with specific enterprise security configurations, though it can lock users out if the key is unavailable.

Additional bugs include excessive restarts during installation and display glitches in Remote Desktop warning prompts.

For now, Microsoft recommends affected users attempt System Restore or Startup Repair via the Windows Recovery Environment. Those still able to boot are advised to uninstall the update and pause further updates until a fix is issued.
