SVS has revealed a new compact subwoofer that aims to challenge expectations around what smaller audio hardware can deliver, introducing the 3000 Micro R|Evolution ahead of its broader release.

The device is positioned as a high-performance option in a much smaller form factor, with an 11-inch enclosure designed to fit easily into living spaces without sacrificing low-frequency impact. Compact subwoofers have often struggled to balance size with sound quality, but SVS is pitching this model as a step forward in closing that gap.

At the core of the system are two 9-inch drivers mounted on opposite sides of the cabinet. This opposing layout is intended to cancel out unwanted vibrations, a common issue in smaller subwoofers, while maintaining stable and controlled bass output. The drivers are engineered to move significant volumes of air despite their size, targeting deeper and more physical low-end performance.

Powering the unit is an amplifier rated at 1,200 watts continuous output, with peak levels exceeding 4,000 watts. The design combines efficiency with the ability to deliver high current when needed, aiming to maintain consistent performance across different listening conditions. Supporting this is a switch-mode power supply that adjusts based on input voltage to keep output stable.

A key part of the system is its digital signal processing, which SVS says plays a central role in shaping sound quality. The processor manages performance in real time, helping to extend bass response while avoiding distortion. It also monitors temperature, voltage, and current to keep the system running efficiently under load.

Users can fine-tune the subwoofer through a companion smartphone app, which offers detailed controls including equalisation, phase adjustment, and room gain settings. Multiple presets can be saved, allowing for quick changes depending on the listening environment or content.

The cabinet itself has been reinforced with thick panels and internal bracing to minimise resonance. This helps ensure that the sound produced is not coloured by vibrations from the enclosure, even at higher volumes.

SVS has opted not to use passive radiators, a design commonly found in compact subwoofers, instead focusing on a sealed cabinet approach to achieve tighter and more accurate bass.

The 3000 Micro R|Evolution made its first appearance at AXPONA 2026, with Australian availability expected to follow shortly after. The subwoofer is set to retail locally for $2,199, with stock anticipated from mid-May through authorised retailers.

The release highlights continued efforts within the audio industry to shrink hardware without losing performance, as demand grows for equipment that fits more easily into modern living spaces while still delivering high-end sound.
