Government Appoints New NBN Chairman
The Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy said that Mr. Young would be leading NBN Co through a period of rapid growth as it rolls out high speed broadband across Australia.
Harrison Young is a director of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia and serves on the Court of Directors of the Bank of England. He is also Chairman of Better Place (Australia) Pty Limited, the local operating subsidiary of the global electric vehicle services provider. He is also the Deputy Chairman of Asialink and of the Asia Society AustralAsia Centre. He sits on the board of Florey Neuroscience Institutes and is Chairman of its Foundation. In addition, he is also a director of the New York-based Financial Services Volunteer Corps. Young was previously the Chairman of Morgan Stanley Australia. This appointment will allow NBN Co’s CEO and Executive Chairperson, Mike Quigley, to focus his attention on the substantial management demands of rolling out the NBN. Mr Quigley will continue his role as CEO of NBN Co and as a director on the NBN Co board. “I am very pleased to welcome the appointment of Mr Young as NBN Co Chairperson and am confident he will make a great contribution. Mr Young is an experienced executive and director and brings substantial leadership and financial experience to the NBN Co board,” said Conroy. “The appointment of Mr Young further extends the already strong set of skills possessed by the NBN Co board,” added Conroy. |
