TPG Eyes Singapore Expansion

The ever-expanding TPG Telecom (it bought Pipe Networks in 2011, AAPT in 2013 and iiNet/Internode in 2015) is now eying the Singapore market, announcing that it has submitted an expression of interest (EoI) to prequalify for the new entrant spectrum auction being conducted by the Infocomm Development Authority in Singapore (IDA).

If TPG successfully prequalifies it will be able to bid for two lots of 2x5MHz of 900MHz spectrum and 8 lots of 5MHz of 2.3GHz spectrum – in which it will be able to operate cellular mobile services if it is able to obtain a license.

IDA is encouraging a fourth entrant into its mobile market by making a substantial portion of spectrum available for sale to new entrants only. The auction is due to be held later this year.
