Stan Prices Set To Rise

Stan has increased the price of its standard plan and introduced a new basic plan to pass on the costs of the recently introduced ‘Netflix Tax’.

Starting July 1, suppliers of digital content and services have been required to collect 10% GST. Stan’s standard plan with HD streaming on up to 3 devices, which was previously available for $10 a month, has increased by 20% to $12.

Only this standard plan was technically affected, while Stan’s 4K Ultra HD premium plan introduced in April remains available for $15 a month.

A new basic plan was also introduced, offering the bare basics at a price point of $10 a month. A single device is able to stream at a time, and only at standard definition resolution.

Just like Netflix, Stan had tested all of these changes to select customers in May.

The changes are currently appearing to new Stan customers, and it isn’t currently clear if or when the price hike will apply to existing customers.
