Samsung Releasing Washing Machines And Dryers With Artificial Intelligence

Samsung Electronics in Australia has launched a series of Artificial Intelligence and Wi-Fi-connected washing machines and dryers.

The in-built AI understands and remembers consumer behaviour to recommend wash cycles on the display to eliminate the need to manually input settings.

It also uses sensor technology to detect the weight of the laundry and dirtiness of the clothing to recommend the right amount of water and detergent from the Smart Auto Dispenser.

The washers and dryers in the new laundry solutions range are SmartThings compatible, which means users can control settings with their smartphone – including start, stop and setting the optimum wash cycle via the app.

According to Samsung, its QuickDrive technology used in the washing machines reduces washing time by up to 50% and energy use by 20%.

An AddWash door also lets users add in forgotten laundry or more detergent after the wash cycle has already started.

In the dryer range, the machines have 9-star energy ratings and are equipped with Heat Pump technology.

The OptimalDry system uses AI to sense humidity levels and adjust drying time according to how damp the clothing is.

Samsung’s steam and hygiene cycles across the washing machine and dryer range are also designed to attack germs and can reduce up to 99.99% of some common bacteria when sanitising both wet and dry clothes.

Features such as Super Speed cycle allow users to wash and dry in less than 2 hours, and Silent Dry offers an integrated noise reduction system so it can be run even at night.

Samsung Australia’s head of home appliances, Andrew Wand said, “We want to make life simpler for Australians and our new range delivers modern AI technology that improves the laundry experience. We are spending more time at home and our awareness of hygiene and cleanliness has increased and extended to clothes, towels, and bedding.

“We are proud to be launching more intelligent and intuitive devices that get the laundry done faster with remote connectivity and personalised settings via machine learning.”
