Amazon-owned Ring has unveiled its latest smart home line-up, headlined by new 2K and 4K cameras with ‘Retinal Vision’ technology and a lost pet feature called Search Party.

The Retinal Vision system promises sharper footage in all conditions. It uses back-side illumination sensors, custom lenses and 10x zoom, paired with AI tuning that samples video quality for two weeks before locking in the best settings.

The 4K technology will appear on the new Wired Doorbell Pro, Floodlight Cam Pro and Outdoor Cam Pro. The Indoor Cam Plus and Wired Doorbell Plus will feature 2K versions, with Power-over-Ethernet options also available. Pre-orders opened this week.

Ring is also expanding its AI tools.

Even security camera interactions are now being automated

Alexa+ Greetings, due in December, acts as a virtual concierge by speaking to visitors and guiding deliveries.

Another tool, Familiar Faces, recognises household members and separates routine alerts from genuine security risks.

Both features sit within the Ring Home Premium plan, priced at US$20 ($30) a month.

Search Party, launching in November, will turn outdoor Ring cameras into neighbourhood pet spotters.

If a dog is reported missing in the app, participating devices will scan for matches and send alerts. Support for cats and other pets will follow in 2026.

Ring has stressed no video or images will be shared without user consent.

The upgrades show Amazon’s push to combine higher-spec hardware with AI-driven services, as competition in the home security market continues to intensify.
