Samsung is set to unveil its first tri‑folding smartphone at the Asia‑Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit later this month, according to multiple industry reports.

The company is expected to showcase the device at an exhibition running alongside the summit, which will take place in Gyeongju, South Korea from October 31 to November 1.

If confirmed, the debut will mark a major milestone in Samsung’s foldable phone journey, following its pioneering Galaxy Z Fold and Flip series.

The device, reportedly to be called the Galaxy Z TriFold, will feature a triple‑hinge design, folding in three sections.

When fully opened, it will deliver a tablet‑sized 10‑inch display, while folding down to the compact size of a standard smartphone for portability.

Early leaks suggest it will run Android 16 with One UI 8.0, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, with up to 16GB of RAM and storage options ranging from 256GB to 1TB.

Camera rumours point to a 200MP primary sensor, a 12MP ultrawide lens and a 50MP telephoto lens with 5Ɨ optical zoom, alongside dual 10MP front cameras.

Samsung is expected to produce only about 50,000 units initially, a fraction of its standard foldable runs, signalling exclusivity and possible premium pricing, which is reportedly around US$3,000 (A$4,500).

Samsung declined to comment. The APEC unveiling would give the Galaxy Z TriFold a high‑profile launch platform ahead of an official retail release later this year.
