The videos play on a continuous loop and resemble gif animation.

On its official Blog, Twitter says “the brevity of videos on Vine (6 seconds or less) inspires creativity.”

Currently Vine is only available on Apple’s iPhone and iPod Touch, but Twitter is “working now to bring it to other platforms.”

Whereas other social networks offer their loyal users more, Twitter does the complete opposite by offering them less, and weirdly, this approach somehow works. Their updates are restricted to 140 characters and their videos are capped at 6 seconds. In comparison, Facebook updates are longer than this article and their photos and videos can be uploaded in High Definition.

However, Twitters economy helps keep posts relevant, side stepping the Facebook few who inundate their friends with several photos and videos of the same meal.
