Pro-Ject Launch Stream Box S2 Ultra in Oz
Pro-Ject has released its network bridge Stream Box S2 Ultra in Australia, available now for $1,199 RRP.
The Stream Box S2 Ultra is a versatile network bridge streamer that connects “dumb” hi-fi systems (AKA not connected to the internet) to the latest streaming technologies.
The device connects to a network via Wi-Fi or Ethernet and can be plugged into a USB DAC (or amplifier, or pre-amplifier) to listen to music using Spotify, Tidal, Roon, AirPlay, DLNA and internet radio (via Shoutcast) — all controllable via the app or web browser.
The Stream Box S2 Ultra can also play music from USB hard drives, NAS drives and a PC’s library via its Micro-USB connection that Pro-Ject claims will “clean even clean up USB noise from your PC in the process” providing “extra clarity”.
The streamer supports almost any file type that your DAC does, including MQA files, even very high-resolution file types like 352.8kHz PCM and DSD256.
It also features two USB inputs for external hard drives and a HDMI video output for connecting to a monitor to display the Stream Box S2 Ultra’s graphic user interface.
