Give Nintendo Switch A Cape, Its Boosting Gaming Sales

Ever since the release of the Nintendo Switch nearly a year ago the company has seen it become not only the fastest selling console for Nintendo but the fastest selling console in the US and now according to a new report it has bolstered video game sales altogether.

Market research company Statista has revealed since the Switch’s release last March, video game sales in the USA have increased by 20 per cent between. In December, total hardware sales amounted to $1.27 billion, up 27 percent from $1.00 billion in December 2016.

The Nintendo Switch was the best selling console in seven out of 10 months between March and December 2017 competing with the PlayStation 4.

The Entertainment Software Association says the industry’s total revenue grew 18 per cent to $36 billion in 2017, of which hardware accounted for $4.71bn.

In Australia, the Nintendo Switch sells at $459.
