The specs for Motorola’s follow-up to the mid-tier Moto Z Play have been revealed.
As originally reported by VentureBeat, the Moto Z2 Play will feature a 2.2Ghz Snapdragon 626 chipset alongside 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Motorola are also said to be swapping out the 16-megapixel rear shooter of the first Moto Z Play with a 12-megapixel camera with a better image sensor. As expected, it’ll also be compatible with any preexisting and future MotoMods.
Design-wise it looks pretty comparable to its predecessor – although reports say that a slimmer build will see the Moto Z2 Play will feature a 3000mAh battery over the 3510mAh one found in the original.
Like the original Z Play, the new handset is being pushed as a mid-tier alternative to those who want to jump in and engage with Motorola’s MotoMod ecosystem without paying a flagship price.
It’ll round out the other entries in the range – the Moto Z2 and Moto Z2 Force – and is expected to hit the market later this year.
