UGREEN has unveiled an unusual protective case that adds a large colour e-ink display to the rear of Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.

The Magic E-ink Screen Case allows owners to transfer photos from their iPhone through a companion app and display them across much of the case’s rear surface.

Unlike a conventional secondary phone display, the e-ink panel cannot play video, operate apps or act as a viewfinder when taking selfies with the iPhone’s rear cameras.

Instead, it functions as a customisable, low-power canvas for displaying a static image. E-ink technology requires power when changing content but can retain an image without continuously consuming energy.

UGREEN has not revealed the panel’s dimensions, resolution or how it receives power.

The case also provides conventional device protection, including raised edges around the iPhone’s wide camera bar and air-cushioned bumpers on each corner.

It has been shown in burgundy and silver finishes designed to complement the colours available across Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro range.

The accessory follows growing interest in secondary displays on the back of smartphones.

Xiaomi has used integrated rear screens on its flagship Pro models, while other accessories have added small displays to existing handsets.

UGREEN’s implementation is considerably simpler, prioritising personalisation rather than adding another interactive interface.

The Magic E-ink Screen Case was introduced in China alongside several other iPhone 18 Pro accessories, including a 45W charger with Adjustable Voltage Supply support and a screen protector.

It is unclear whether the case supports MagSafe accessories or wireless charging, with the rear display occupying the area where magnetic attachments would normally connect.

UGREEN has not disclosed pricing or confirmed whether the Magic E-ink Screen Case will be released internationally.
