Lenovo Add MotoMods To Next Shatterproof Handset

Reports out of AndroidAuthority have revealed that, alongside the previously-unearthed Moto Z2, Motorola’s 2017 range will also include a follow-up to last year’s Moto X Force.

AndroidAuthority says that the new handset will be powered by a Snapdragon 835 processor and feature a dual-lens camera. It’s unknown at this time if the Z2 Force is the same dual-lens Moto handset that leaked several weeks back.

Regardless, it’ll also pack in a thinner variation on heavy-duty “shatterproof” build of its predecessor.

The other big addition here is that of MotoMods. Like the Moto Z and Z Play, the Z2 Force will be compatible with all existing and future MotoMods, Presumably, this means the Moto Z2 Force will ship with a durability-focused mod of its own.

Motorola have previously talked up a target of releasing four new MotoMods a quarter, in pursuit of growing the smartphone market’s first truly successful modular ecosystem.

The original X Force  reviewed quite favorably. In our review, we said “Motorola should feel confident in what they’ve brought to market. This is a handset with more than just confidence on its side. They’ve got a mid-tier winner on their hands.”

Expect more details to come when Motorola’s 2017 range of Z handsets makes an official reveal later in the year.
