More People Buying Samsung Smartphones Than Apple iPhones
Samsung is storming ahead in the smartphone market with sales climbing 24% in Q3 and 11% during the past 12 months.
In comparison Apple has seen a 7% decline during the past year, the iPhone Company has also struggled up against Samsung with Q3 growth of 12.3% Vs Samsung’s 24%
Overall sales for Samsung were 78.9 million units for the quarter Vs 43.5 million units in Q3 for Apple according to Canalys research.
There was no mention of Realme the Chinese brand who claim that they are the fastest growing smartphone in the world.
Globally Apple also lost ground to Huawei in the third quarter when global smartphone sales rose on a quarterly basis only for the first time in two years, according to Canalys.
The global smartphone market is showing signs of life after users replaced aging devices and demand from markets such as India surged with the proliferation of low-priced plans.
On Thursday, Samsung reported a 32% jump in operating income at its mobile division, while Apple’s holiday-quarter outlook trumped analysts’ expectations.
The Korean company retained global leadership while Chinese rival closed the gap, due to pent-up demand in China that built up during the previous quarter when Washington blacklisted both Huawei and ZTE.
Locally Samsung has been stripping share from the likes of Oppo and Nokia with their new range of sub $650 devices with insiders tipping double digit local growth.
