Microsoft Off To New High, With Oz HQ In North Sydney

Microsoft Australia is looking to move its Australian HQ from the current – and now ageing – North Ryde building to the more central North Sydney arena.

It has booked no fewer than seven levels in the new $1.2 million No. 1 Denison Street building in North Sydney, which will be the area’s tallest tower.

Microsoft has taken a 10-year lease on the accommodation, which runs from floor 25 to 31. (The building, looming high left in our picture, will have 37 floors, so it seems Microsoft won’t be the top cat).

Designed by architects Bates Smart, a signature feature of 1 Denison Street is said to be the public forecourt area, with “a fusion of urban structures and natural features as well as iconic retail, restaurants and bars over two levels”.

The building is due for completion next year. Microsoft stresses that it also continue to occupy its office at 1 Martin Place in Sydney’s CBD, as well as the North Ryde shack.
