Kaleidescape Launches Compact Mini Terra Prime Movie Server
Kaleidescape has expanded its premium home-cinema ecosystem with the launch of the Mini Terra Prime, a compact solid-state movie server designed to deliver high-end performance at a lower entry price.
The new model slots into the company’s Terra Prime line as its smallest and quietest offering to date.
Despite its reduced footprint, the Mini Terra Prime is built for serious cinephiles. It includes 8TB of internal solid-state storage – enough for around 125 of Kaleidescape’s high-bitrate 4K titles – and can download a full movie in as little as four minutes over a 2.5GbE network.
The server also supports up to 25 simultaneous streams without compromising audio or video quality, making it suitable for larger homes or multi-room installations.
Kaleidescape CEO Tayloe Stansbury said the new model is designed to bring the brand’s signature performance to more customers.

“Mini Terra Prime is Kaleidescape’s most compact movie server, but it delivers a mighty punch: fast downloads, high-performance playback, and ample storage,” Stansbury said. “It is the perfect complement for Kaleidescape M and E reference-quality movie players.”
Matching the dimensions of the Strato M and Strato E players, the server uses an architectural-grade steel chassis with a mosaic vent pattern for convection cooling.
With no internal fan, it operates silently – an advantage for living rooms, dedicated cinemas and equipment racks.
As with all Kaleidescape systems, the Mini Terra Prime stores full-fidelity movie files that are significantly larger than typical streaming versions, preserving lossless audio and near-lossless video sourced from studio masters.
Adding a Terra Prime server to a standalone Strato player unlocks Kaleidescape’s full library interface and improved browsing features.
