Industry Figures Form New Distributor Hi-Fi Collective

Two audio distribution industry figures have teamed up to form a new hi-fi distribution company based in Melbourne.

Chris Murphy of New Zealand’s N.A. Distributors, who earlier this year lost distribution rights to Focal and Naim products to BusiSoft, has teamed up with former Qualifi and Synergy manager Gareth Weller to form Hi-Fi Collective.

Mr Murphy has been telling hi-fi press the new company will focus on “music, relationships and great customer service – rather than expending energy on keeping the corporate machines happy”.

This could be a possible nod to the circumstances surrounding the loss of Focal and Naim from N.A. Distributors, who some retailers told ChannelNews earlier this year, were struggling to service the Australian market for the brands.

Hi-Fi Collective are set to distribute Auralic, AVM, Fink Team, Fyne Audio, Heed Audio, Totem Acoustic and Vertere Acoustics in Australia.

N.A. Distributors will handle the same brands in New Zealand with the exception of Fyne Audio.
