Google has begun rolling out Chrome 150 for Android, introducing a refreshed menu layout that adds a dedicated Back button and makes several small interface changes aimed at improving navigation.

One of the most noticeable updates is the addition of a Back button within the browser’s three-dot menu. Previous versions only included a Forward button, meaning users relied on Android’s system back gesture or navigation button to return to the previous page. The new option provides an alternative way to move backwards while browsing.

The feature has been available on Chrome for iPhone for some time, but this marks its arrival on the Android version of the browser. On desktop, Chrome users can already customise the navigation controls by hiding the Forward button through the browser’s toolbar settings.

Google has also reorganised the overflow menu. The information button has been removed and replaced with a new “Site controls” option, giving users quicker access to permissions and settings for the website they are visiting.

The revised layout has shifted other familiar controls further along the menu. The Bookmark star and Download button now appear further to the right, a change that may take some adjustment for long-time Chrome users accustomed to their previous positions.

Another menu update renames the “Add to Home screen” option. It is now labelled “Install and create shortcut”, providing a clearer description of what happens when adding a website or web app to an Android device.

Chrome 150 is now rolling out widely through the Google Play Store for compatible Android devices. The update follows the addition of Reading mode earlier this year and continues Google’s gradual refinement of Chrome’s mobile interface.
