JBL Launch New Wireless Speakers With ‘Signal Doctor’
The Authentics L8 and L16. Both units support AirPlay, DLNA, and Bluetooth 3.0 streaming, as well as direct input via phono, SPDIF, or 3.5mm jacks. Notably, the pair also use 24-bit, 96kHZ signal paths, enabling better-than-CD quality.
The L8 has 4x30W output, driven by a 4-inch woofer and a 1-inch tweeter, with a frequency range of 45Hz to 35kHz. The L16 is the higher-end model, sporting 6x50W output and a 35Hz-35kHz range, with a 5.25-inch woofer, a 2-inch mid-range driver, and a 1-inch tweeter. The speaker also has a walnut finish, versus the L8’s glossy black.
Each device has two USB charging ports, and can be controlled via the JBL Music app for iOS and Android. The latter not only controls tone but a feature called Signal Doctor, which attempts to “repair” compression in digital music.
Pricing for Australia has not been announced.
