Covid Hits 50pc Of Aussie Biz

CANBERRA: The way most businesses operate has been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic with more than 50pc of businesses in every industry having to deal under modified conditions.

According to an Australian Bureau of Statistics report, proportions of businesses that have reported operating under modified conditions include information media and telecommunications (96pc); health care and social assistance (93pc); accommodation and food services (92pc); and education and training (91pc).

Stats says that overall 74 percent of actively trading businesses have reported that they were operating under modified conditions due to Covid-19.

Overall, 72 per cent of all businesses reported decreased revenue as a result of Covid-19.

By employment size, 71pc of small businesses (those with up to 19 employees) reported that revenue had decreased as a result of Covid-19, compared with 78pc of medium businesses (ie, 20-199 persons)
