Qualcomm Unveil Next-Gen Wi-Fi 6 Platforms, Delivering Industry-Leading Speeds

Qualcomm has launched six new Networking Pro Series Platforms – second-generation Wi-Fi 6 platforms that are designed to deliver multi-gigabit speeds, high bandwidth, and a surge in low latency network capacity.

The Qualcomm FastConnect 6900 mobile connectivity system feature the fastest available Wi-Fi speeds in the industry (up to 3.6 Gbps) on a mobile Wi-Fi offering, while the FastConnect 6700 delivers speeds of up to 3Gbps. The 160 MHz channels of these systems support both 5 and 6 GHz bands, dramatically expand throughput and reduce congestion.

Their new Wi-Fi 6 Uplink MU-MIMO capability can increase network capacity by more than 2.5 times.

“With the introduction of the FastConnect 6900 and 6700 solutions, Qualcomm Technologies is redefining the mobile experience by extending the power of Wi-Fi 6 into the 6 GHz band and advancing wireless audio with cutting-edge integrated Bluetooth 5.2 features,” said Dino Bekis, vice-president and general manager, mobile and compute connectivity, Qualcomm Technologies.

“These innovations enable us to further break away from the pack and deliver a connectivity portfolio optimised to accelerate global adoption across multiple smartphone tiers.”

The Bluetooth 5.2 with advanced audio (including Qualcomm aptX Adaptive and Voice) facilitates improved wireless experiences.

“As consumer expectations for always-on, flawless streaming video and crystal-clear audio continue to grow dramatically worldwide, modern applications and devices face increasing challenges with respect to battery life, data rates, range and security,” said Bryan Chang, General Manager of the ASUS Phone business unit.

Qualcomm also unveiled its Tri-Band Wi-Fi 6, which offers simultaneous operation in 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz frequency bands. These set a new industry benchmark  for scalability, supporting up to 2,000 users at the same time, while also delivering full network capacity in a new 16-stream Wi-Fi 6E configuration.

The four new Qualcomm Networking Pro Series platforms are below:

“We see this announcement from Qualcomm Technologies as a positive step forward in what’s possible for networking across the industry,” said David Henry, senior vice president of Connected Home Products and Services for NETGEAR.

“We look forward to continuing our collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies as we incorporate the Networking Pro Series to deliver robust and seamless experiences that enable us to expand the ecosystem.”
