Bushfire Smoke & Allergen Free With Air Purifying Necklace

Those looking to protect themselves from smoke inhalation during the Australian bushfires may find some reprieve with the launch of the world’s smallest air purifier that you can wear around your neck.

Launched at CES 2020, the Airvida M1 is a wearable air purifier from IoT & wearable device company ible, though no pricing or availability has been announced just yet.

With bushfires still raging across the east coast of Australia, air quality has been dangerously affected with the department of planning, industry & environment issuing several warnings, with a number of areas being considered hazardous.

With wearable technology now including health and beauty products – such as Apple’s ECG SmartWatch App or L’Oreal’s UV tracker – a number of products are focusing on improving the air we breathe in.

The Airvida M1 is one such device capable of removing 95.3% of bacteria and 99.9% of PM2.5 (particles that have a diameter less than 2.5 micrometres) in the air.

It comes following LG’s announcement of the PuriCare Mini Air Purifier, a small portable device also capable of detecting and removing 99% of particles in the air.

Weighing in at a measly 20g, the necklace is available in Intrecciato Space Black, Normcore Space Black or Intrecciato Pearl White.

Made from titanium, the device can be worn as either a necklace or with a collar clip attached to your clothes, and can even be mounted on your desk via the charging dock.

Despite its size the Airvida will last for up to 28 hours with its included ‘sustainable’ battery.

The device works by creating negative ions that attach to positive ions in air particles, which in turn cause them to fall to the ground due to the increased weight.

Producing up to 20 million+ negative ions/cm3 per 0.6 seconds the Airvida M1 keeps 2 million negative ions/cm3 around the face when in use.

Surprisingly the device features no fans making it near silent during operation.

In addition, ‘far-infrared emissions’ outputted by the titanium necklace will supposedly activate blood circulation and metabolism.
