4, 7 + 10 Inch= Google Nexus’ Tabs All Areas

Well, the extreme weather did force Google to cancel the star studded launch event in New York forcing Google’s Andy Rubin, SVP, Mobile and Digital Content, to announce the Nexus’ family on the official G blog.

.”We’re excited to announce three great new Nexus devices … in small, medium and large,” wrote Rubin.

The two tabs – 7 and 10 run Android 4.2, a new flavour of Jelly Bean, and there’s a new LG Nexus 4 quad-core smartphone to boot ( the Small Nexus).

Google’s new Nexus 7 (or Medium Nexus) has been made lighter and thinner, but rather than the WiFi-only model of prior, Google has kitted it out with 3G (HSPA+) and larger 32GB storage model.

Price wise, the 16GB Nexus 7 tablet (made by Asus) originally costs $249 in Australia. In America, the 32GB Nexus 7 costs US$249 and the 3G HSPA+ model is a bit pricier at US$299, indicating a price mark-up of $50 for more memory and connectivity in Australia. .

Here’s the Internet giant’s rationale for developing its own line of tabs, expanding the Nexus 7 launched earlier this year:

“Nexus—Google’s hardware line for Android devices—gets rid of the hassle. Just sign in with your Google Account and everything is there ready to go, whatever device you’re using: photos, emails, contacts, bookmarks, even your entertainment on Google Play.

And now on the big guns:

Nexus 10 (made by Samsung) is the “ultimate tablet” for multimedia say its makers. It is the highest resolution tablet on the planet at 2560-by-1600 (300ppi), that’s over 4 million pixels (yes even leaving the king iPad’s 2048×1536 Retina display trailing).

The Nexus 10 will give you up to nine hours of video playback, 500 hours standby, and has front-facing stereo speakers for decent sound.

And you can add multiple users and switch to personalised home screens, music, with Android 4.2, which may appeal to families.

The Nexus 10 will be available in OZ from Google’s online store on November 13 as well as the US, UK, France, Germany, Spain Canada and Japan, priced at US$399 and a 32GB version will go for $499.

So whats new in ‘Droid Jelly Bean 4.2 anyway?

Android 4.2 promises goodies like Gesture Typing (glide your finger over the letters) and Google Now for real time info on weather forecasts, scheduled appointments, sport and public transport.

Google is also expanding its Play store for media choices and is offering magazines like InStyle, People, Time, and adding Warner Music full music catalogue soon with new songs daily.

Rubin also pledged tonnes of music content is in the pipeline:

“We’re now working with all of the major record labels globally, and all the major U.S. magazine publishers, as well as many independent labels, artists and publishers. “
