iPhone Trouble: Apple Sued By Taiwanese Companies HTC & Via

According to Via, the infringed patents concern the device’s fundamental operations, involving the use, transfer and manipulation of data.

Via’s complaint has been filed with the American District court and the US International Trade Commission.

In a statement, Via boss Wen-Chi Chen said the company is “determined to protect our interests and the interests of our stockholders.” Chen is married to HTC chairwoman Cher Wang, who co-founded both Via and HTC.

Considering Apple is pummelling HTC with patent-related litigation, it comes as no surprise that the two Taiwanese couples headed by the power-couple are uniting fronts against patent-bully Apple.

HTC alone succumbed to an Apple claim after it was found to infringe two of its patents. Since then, HTC has filed 3 separate lawsuits against Apple, and has inherited 5 additional patents from Android developer, Google.
