Australian shoppers are preparing for one of the biggest retail events of the year, with Black Friday 2026 expected to deliver substantial discounts on everything from smartphones and televisions to laptops, gaming consoles and smart home devices.

Black Friday officially falls on Friday, November 27, with Cyber Monday following on November 30. However, Australian retailers are increasingly extending their sales well beyond the traditional four-day shopping period, turning November into a month-long battle for consumer spending.

Technology is expected to be one of the biggest attractions, as consumers look to upgrade ageing devices, purchase Christmas gifts and take advantage of discounts on premium products that might otherwise be out of reach.

Major retailers including JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, The Good Guys, Officeworks, Amazon Australia and Bing Lee are expected to compete aggressively for customers, alongside manufacturers such as Samsung, Apple, Sony, LG and Lenovo.

Some Australian technology brands have already begun reducing prices ahead of the main event.

According to Finder, Lenovo has advertised discounts of up to 50 per cent, while LG has offered reductions of up to 40 per cent on selected products. These early promotions suggest shoppers may not need to wait until November 27 to secure attractive prices.

Consumer group CHOICE reports that Australians spent $23.8 billion during last year’s two-week Black Friday sales period, representing a 4.6 per cent increase on the previous year.

The figures highlight how Black Friday has evolved from an imported American shopping tradition into a major fixture on Australia’s retail calendar.

Televisions, Laptops And Smartphones In The Spotlight

Televisions are traditionally among the most heavily promoted Black Friday products, with shoppers able to find discounts across OLED, QLED and Mini LED models.

Samsung, LG, Sony and TCL are likely to feature prominently as retailers look to clear selected inventory ahead of next year’s television releases.

Large-screen 4K televisions could prove particularly attractive, with consumers increasingly looking for bigger displays, improved picture quality and advanced gaming features without paying flagship prices.

JB Hi-Fi is offering a substantial discount on Samsung’s 85-Inch The Frame Pro Neo QLED 4K TV. The premium television has reportedly been reduced from A$4,995 to A$3,412, representing a saving of A$1,583, or approximately 32 per cent

Laptops and computers are another major category to watch. Discounts on Windows laptops, gaming notebooks, monitors and accessories could appeal to students, home workers and gamers looking to upgrade their equipment.

Lenovo is slashing A$680 off its ThinkPad E14 Gen 7 laptop. Normally priced at A$2,329, the laptop is advertised for A$1,649 representing a substantial 29 per cent discount.

Smartphones are also expected to attract considerable attention, particularly previous-generation flagship devices from Samsung, Google, Oppo and Apple.

While the newest premium phones may receive relatively modest discounts, older models and bundled offers could provide better value.

Samsung for example is now offering A$500 off the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra 256GB Jetblack, with the offer expected to end on November 4.

Gaming enthusiasts will be watching for reductions on PlayStation 5 and Xbox hardware, gaming headsets, controllers, storage devices and popular games.

Subscriptions and digital services could also feature in promotional campaigns, although the size of any discounts will depend on individual retailers and providers.

Smart Home And Audio Products Could Deliver Big Savings

Beyond traditional computing and entertainment products, Black Friday is becoming an increasingly important sales period for smart home technology.

Robot vacuum cleaners, video doorbells, security cameras, smart lighting and connected appliances are likely to feature heavily in promotional catalogues.

Brands including Arlo, eufy, Ring, Ecovacs, Roborock and Dreame could attract interest from households looking to introduce additional automation and security without paying full retail prices.

JB Hi-Fi has slashed the price of the Ecovacs DEEBOT T50 Pro Omni robotic vacuum cleaner from A$1,499 to A$749, delivering a saving of A$750 ahead of Black Friday on November 27.

Harvey Norman has reduced the price of the Ezviz CB5 4K Security Camera with Solar Panel from A$344 to A$244, giving Australian shoppers a saving of A$100, or approximately 29 per cent.

Headphones and portable speakers are another category worth watching.

Premium noise-cancelling headphones from Sony, Bose, JBL and Sennheiser are likely to compete for attention, alongside wireless earbuds, Bluetooth speakers and soundbars.

Australian shoppers can save A$120 on Sennheiser’s ACCENTUM Wireless Noise-Cancelling Headphones, with JB Hi-Fi cutting the price from A$299 to A$179.

Amazon Australia has reduced the price of Soundcore by Anker’s Q20i Hybrid Active Noise-Cancelling Headphones from A$99.99 to A$69.99, offering Australian shoppers a saving of A$30, or 30 per cent.

For shoppers considering a home entertainment upgrade, combining a discounted television with a soundbar could deliver considerable savings compared with buying both products at their regular prices.

Shoppers Warned To Check The Real Discounts

Consumers are being warned that not every advertised Black Friday bargain represents genuine value.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission revealed in April that around half of the 50 retailers examined during its 2025 Black Friday sales review had made potentially concerning advertising claims.

These included misleading countdown timers, heavily qualified storewide discounts and questionable comparisons between original and sale prices.

For technology shoppers, comparing the exact model number and checking historical prices can be particularly important. An older television, laptop or smartphone might carry an impressive discount but lack features found in newer alternatives.

Consumers should also consider delivery charges, warranty coverage and whether cheaper products are being sold by Australian retailers or overseas sellers.

With Black Friday still several weeks away, the strongest technology promotions are yet to be revealed.
