Tesla Delivers Record Numbers For Q1
Tesla delivered and produced a record number of electric vehicles in the first three months of 2023, bucking a global pullback on spending.
The EV giant delivered 422,875 electric vehicles in the first quarter of 2023, and produced 440,808 in the same period.
This is far beyond the 405,278 vehicles Tesla delivered in the fourth quarter of 2022. Tesla produced 439,701 units during the December quarter.
Tesla has embarked on a global price cutting strategies in the past few months, which has obviously helped sales. The company lowered pricing for Model Y and Model 3 vehicles by up to 20 per cent in some markets, and Model X and Model S vehicles by up to 9 per cent.
Sales in China, of vehicles coming out of Tesla’s Shanghai gigafactory is also responsible for the increasing production.
According to data from the China Passenger Car Association, Tesla collectively sold 140,453 China-made vehicles in January and February, meaning that once March numbers are added, this market could be responsible for roughly half of all global sales.
Tesla’s share jumped 6.24 per cent during off trading hours as a result of these record production and delivery figures.
