Telstra Take On Optus With Smart Wi-Fi Booster 2.0

Telstra has thrown down the gauntlet against Optus and TPG, by launching its new Smart Wi-Fi Booster 2.0 – focused on delivering reliable internet connectivity, rather than just fast speeds.

In an exclusive report by The AustralianTelstra product and technology lead, Christian von Reventlow, affirms Aussies are more interested in bandwidth than megabits:

“Consumers don’t really care about how many megabits they get into their homes, what they are interested in is the bandwidth they get in their living rooms, their kitchens and other parts of their homes.”

Customers can pair the booster with their Telstra Smart Modem 2.0, pledging reliable internet connectivity on wireless devices even as users move throughout the home.

Former Deutsche Telecom senior exec, Mr von Reventlow, is reportedly tasked with building products which deliver on Telstra’s T22 objectives.

Telstra asserts its Smart Modem 2.0 is the world’s first ISP-provided device of its kind to be certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance.

As previously reported, Telstra’s T22 strategy seeks to significantly simplify operations and products, whilst delivering cost savings over $1 billion.

Around 500,000 Australian residents reportedly house a Gen 2 Telstra Smart Modem 2.0 in their home.

The Smart Modem 2.0 and Booster are now available to purchase for Telstra customers, with further information on the telco’s website here.
