Spotify Buys Mighty TV

Global music streaming giant Spotify has snapped up TV and movie recommendation app MightyTV.

Founded in 2015 in New York, MightyTV previously recommended TV shows and movies depending on the user’s previous choices. The start-up will close down its video app and integrate the technology into Spotify.

Spotify is reportedly looking to boost revenue from advertising. MightyTV joins Spotify’s effort to develop technology that allows advertisers to target specific groups of listeners, based on their listening habits and other demographic information.

MightyTV’s founder and CEO Brian Adams will become Spotify’s technology VP.
