Sharp Australia Appoints New MD
Sharp Australia has announced current Sharp Brazil president Hitoshi Kagawa will be taking over as new managing director.
Kagawa (pictured above, right) will vacate his existing position while Sharp Australia’s current MD Keiichi (Kasey) Katsuta will return to Sharp’s head office in Japan.
The Japanese company’s local operation has focused on appliances after quitting the Australian TV market in 2015 and being acquired by Foxconn last year.
Kagawa will be based at Sharp’s downsized offices in North Ryde, where he will “deliver leadership and vision to the newly recharged team and organisation” according to Sharp.
A number of senior executives including deputing managing director Joe Costantino left the company earlier this year.
“I am excited to be joining the Australian team and lead the local operations, Kagawa said.
He is tasked with implementing Sharp Australia’s “long term strategic of direction and management of an established team”.
“Together we will set the benchmark that Sharp is the preferred brand as we expand offerings in the consumer and business solutions markets,” Kagawa said.
“I would like to thank Mr Keiichi Katsuta for his instrumental work over the past 3 years as he leaves behind a solid foundation allowing me to bring the company towards a growth trajectory.”
